"South-North relations cannot be improved if the North is isolated in a state of near-war with the rest of the world... Years of hostility can only be overcome by realistic diplomacy."

"When nations and peoples allow themselves to be defined by differences, the gulf between them widens. When we fail to pursue peace, then it stays forever beyond our grasp."

"I believe the answer in North Korea is likely to be found in diplomacy and by continuing to have discussions with North Korea."

"At the top of the agenda, however, in order to remove all unnecessary obstacles to progress, is the establishment of a peace treaty to replace the truce that has been in place since 1953. One of the things that have bedeviled all talks until now is the unresolved status of the Korean War.... Absent such a peace treaty, every dispute presents afresh the question of the other side's legitimacy."

    James Laney
  • Stephen Bosworth, Obama Special Envoy to North Korea:

"Pyongyang won't give up its nukes until it's sure Washington has permanently abandoned its hostile policies, and mutual trust has been established by establishing diplomatic relations and striking a peace agreement that formally ends the Korean War."

    Stephen Bosworth

Welcome to the National Campaign to End the Korean War
The National Campaign to End the Korean War is the collaboration of several leading Korean-American, veterans, and human rights organizations working to promote a U.S.-Korea policy that will bring about a lasting peace on the Korean peninsula. We call for an official end to the unfinished Korean War by replacing the outdated Armistice Agreement with a formal peace agreement, establishing formal diplomatic relations with North Korea (DPRK) and promoting U.S. policies that reflect greater respect for the right of the Korean people to self-determination, peace, human security, and development.
